Rocks of Milton-Freewater

Medium

Cork

Oh my goodness,' is my first impression of this incredibly impressionable Syrah. The aromatics are so enticing: mulberry fruit, lavender, tangerine zest and honeysuckle. What follows is a smoky, mineral-accented red with a sumptuously perfumed undertone, supporting ultra-fine tannins, wet graphite and loamy earth minerality, layered with dried flowers on the rind of a beautifully earthy, creamy cheese. Velvety blue fruit comes out on the medium-bodied palate, and there's so much freshness you'd think you were walking along a wet-earth path in a deep woodland during a fog; it's so thick but freshening. Just extraordinary. Sourced from Borderlands Vineyard in Milton Freewater Rocks District. Co-fermented with Viognier (6%). Aged 10 months in 12% new oak and 25% once-used oak. Whole-cluster percentage was 63%
