Planted in 2007, this Dusted Valley estate site in the Rocks District AVA is planted to Phelps Clone Syrah, the original Red Willow planting, which was Washington's first Syrah. Winemaker Jeff Lindsay Thorsen calls it an exercise in terroir, making wine in the Rocks.’ Undeniably singular aromas of black olives, brine, cassia bark, and savoury herbs with elegant floral accents. The palate shows gamey notes and a rich forest floor, and for Lindsay Thorsen, these wines are evocative of growing up in the Pacific Northwest and the way the air tastes in the winter, ‘a kind of winter sea brine.’
