From the Stoney Vine Vineyard in the Rocks District on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla Valley. Winemaker Jeff Lindsay-Thorsen approached this wine like a Pinot Noir. With 100% whole cluster, it offers generous gorgeous florality and roasted nori followed by briny black olives. The Rocks wines have become the phenomenon, but here, the WT bottling produces an elusive elegance I've seen in only one other wine from the region. The whole cluster here ‘slides into the filigree and not the frame,’ as Lindsay-Thorsen says. The palate shows surprising elegance; this wine, clocking in at under 14% abv, is likened to a darkly robed Pinot Noir. A melange of earth, rose petals and spice all meld with a dusty gravel minerality.
