This Roussanne-based white is from a 35-acre site called Uplift Vineyard, on the Llano Uplift plateau surrounded by mountains on ancient granitic soils in the Texas Hill Country AVA. Here, vines are protected from weather patterns like hail and massive rain storms. Rootstocks are 1103 and 5BB rootstocks, which encourage vigour, which is necessary because of the rocky, well-draining soils and lack of rain. The wine is incredibly fresh and vibrant, with lifted white floral notes, stone fruit, and a fabulous thread of saline minerality. Some creaminess from neutral oak ageing brings weight and body balanced by excellent acidity with a lengthy finish marked by more orchard and stone fruits and dried herbs.
