Michael Shaps also makes wine in Burgundy and here has crafted a serious Petit Manseng with the structure of a bold, showy Chardonnay: an enticing fruit-cocktail of lychee, kiwi, grilled pineapple and petrol complexity. The high alcohol means it's a touch hot in the mid-palate, but the unctuous body finishes clean. Shaps' Meritage and Raisin d’Etre sweet white blend are both worth trying too.
