Washington's reliably great Syrah vineyards include Boushey Vineyard in the Yakima Valley. This wine is marked by graphite-driven aromatics, savoury dried herbs and crushed ripe blackberry. The palate is lush, ripe and dominated by blackberry and plum fruits. There are notes of savoury garrigue, and crushed basalt introduces a mouth-coating finish, though with just a touch of heat.
