A blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Counoise and Cinsault from the Yakima Valley results in a concentrated, savoury CDP-styled wine emblematic of Washington State, complete with a Gaelic translation of Castle of the Pope, Caisléan, an Pápa Savoury aromatics of dried herbs, black liquorice, wild fennel and ample crushed stone minerality. The palate is densely black-fruited, meaty and briny, carrying a charred minerality to the fore palate. Black olive, fig and tangy brambleberry lean into a savoury, long-lasting finish.
