Tasted in March of 2024.The 2020 Devil is a Liar is the top tier cuvée for winemaker Seth Kitzke with only 65 cases produced. The third release is a co-fermented blend of 78% Grenache, 16% Syrah, 3% Mourvedre 3% Viognier from the northern flanks of Red Mountain's WeatherEye Vineyard known as Block 15. 2020 was a cooler vintage, lending ethereal and savoury elements to the wine. The umami character returns in the 2020 vintage with smoky soy and dessert sage and dried lavender aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, with delightfully elegant red fruits and savoury notes of white and black pepper.
