This was the second single-vineyard wine Quilceda Creek began producing after the Columbia Valley Cabernet, with the first vintage released in 2014. The 2023 Quilceda Creek Galitzine Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced entirely from Galitzine Vineyard, Clone 8, in the Red Mountain AVA. Clone 8 brings a lovely savoury component, with dusty red earth, hen-of-the-woods mushrooms, and sandalwood accents. There is a good amount of robust, gravelly tannin and plenty of energy and tension driving this full-bodied red wine. The tannins continue to build through the finish, even after opening the wine the night before I tasted.
