The Rainmaker Vineyard sits in the dynamic Columbia Gorge region, almost 500m above sea level in the mountains overlooking White Salmon, Washington. Rainmaker was part of the original historic Mont Elise Vineyards from the 1960s and was planted in 2013. This single-vineyard bottling marks the first still Chardonnay from Syncline. Winemaker James Mantone looks to Jura for Chardonnay inspiration, less texture, new oak, and a bit edgier with savoury elements—aromas of lemon verbena, wild country fruits and mulberry. The palate shows a salty lemon spine, lemon oil and a citrus curd lifted by savoury, stony and saline minerality. It's delicious.
