Cofermented with 3% Viognier in concrete vessels, the 2021 Syrah from Trothe is a beguiling wine with floral accents, spiced blood orange brightness and mineral freshness that mark its aromas. The 2021 vintage was hot in the Horse Heaven Hills; canopy management was vital in preserving freshness and buoyancy in the Syrah blocks at Andrews Family Vineyard. The palate shows a tremendous savoury character with mountain scrub and wild lavender notes parsed by graphite minerality streaks. A touch of wild anise finishes the black fruit richness.
