While I was impressed with the 2022 bottling of this wine, the additional bottle age for the 2021 has rendered it lush and, layered and simply brilliant. Native barrel fermented and one year on lees, this wine keeps its freshness of serious lemon. Richly aromatic with such generosity of fruit and yeasty goodness. Notes of pineapple upside-down cake, juicy fresh-cut Meyer lemon and a strong grilled peach note. The palate delivers on depth, beeswax, honeyed drizzled grilled peach, a savoury note, and lemon oil viscosity with serious notes of Madagascar vanilla pastry cream. It's a beautiful Viognier that shows brilliance and balance. Seth looked for a cooler, higher elevation site near Elephant Mountain; the Konnowac site is almost north-facing. Winemaker Seth Kitzke says that this site is 450m, just outside of the Missoula Flood soils.
