Jeff Lindsay Thorsen's sommelier background, and love of Pinot Noir translates into his approach at Rhône varieites in Washington and the greater Columbia Valley. This Grenache comes from Dick Boushey's famed vineyard and the Toro Block, planted in 2007, to the Tablas Clone. At 1150ft, it sits on the Missoula Flood line, with gravelly soils impacting the terroir expression. Ripe fleshy strawberry aromatics, exotic spices, and dried lavender all show the complexity and refinement of this wine, Jeff's house style. A departure: there's no whole cluster in this wine, as Jeff didn't like how the stems were tasting. The palate shows tobacco leaf, mouthfuls of dried florals, desert scrub and wild bramble fruits. Elegance and restraint shine brightly on this Grenache.
