Two hemispheres in one bottle: this third release of Penfolds II marries 64% Bordeaux Cabernet from Dourthe, aged 12 months in mostly new French oak, with 32% Penfolds Coonawarra Cabernet, aged 18 months also in French oak. Blended and bottled in South Australia, it balances vibrant plum and mulberry notes with savoury black fruit and peppery spice. Together the two regions create a robust and cohesive blend that's built for ageing, though this is still young, with a tight finish, promising further integration and evolution to come.
