Within each appellation Anson highlighted a number of estates in two categories, ‘top scoring’ and ‘best value’ of which the red wines are listed below.
Pauillac
Best value: La Fleur Peybaron, Fonbadet, Grand Puy Lacoste if priced well. Batailley is not inexpensive of course, but it’s a buy for me, a delicious, brilliantly characterful wine with great appellation signature.
St Julien
Gloria, Moulin de la Rose, Les Ormes, Fleur Lauga (a real success in the vintage and one to look out for).
Margaux
Labegorce, Le Coteau, Haut-Breton Larigaudière.
St Estèphe
Ormes de Pez, Meyney, Lilian Ladouys, Le Crock, Tour des Termes, Haut Marbuzet, Petit Bocq, Domeyne.
Pomerol
Bonalgue, de Sales, Guillot-Clauzel, Saint-Pierre, Maillet, Enclos Tourmaline, le Moulin, Clos de la Vieille Eglise.

St Emilion
Clos Debreuil, Saintayme, Teyssier, de la commanderie, Haut-Brisson, de Candale, Tertre de la Mouleyre, Clos Romanille, la Fleur d’Artus, Bel-Air Ouy.
Pessac & Graves
Ferran, Seguin, Peyrat (excellent quality in the Graves, look out for it), Clos d’Uza, Cérons, Haura, Luchey-Halde, Brown, Roquetaillade la Grange, Larrivet Haut-Brion, Saint-Robert, Agora.
Fronsacs & Canon Fronsas, Satellites and Côtes
In Lalande: Chatonnet estates, especially La Sergue, Haut-Chaigneau, Les Hauts Conseillants, Grand Ormeau, de Chambrun.
In Fronsac: Moulin-Haut Laroque, Les Trois Croix, La Vieille Cure, La Dauphine, Canon-Pécresse, Tessendey. Les Perrieres de Lafleur is just outside Fronsac in AOC Bordeaux but is a clear standout.

Listrac/Moulis: Chasse Spleen, Poujeaux, Maucaillou, Fonréaud, Clarke, Fourcas Dupré, Fourcas Hosten.
Prices
In her report, Anson explained that a score of 94 points is a ‘strong buy’ marker but insisted there’s plenty of value to be found with lower-scoring wines.
Using prices for wines already released during this year’s campaign, and comparison data from last year’s 2018 wines for those not yet out, we’ve compiled a list of wines all scoring 90 points or more and priced under £20/$25 per bottle in bond.
The 32 wines listed below range in scores with two at 94 points, seven at 93 points, 12 at 91 points and 3 at 90 points and cover the entire Bordeaux region including St-Estèphe, Margaux, St-Émilion (Grand Cru), Pomerol and Pessac-Léognan.
Within the list are six wines that are priced less than £10.50 / $12.50 and 18 wines that are less than £15 / $18.50 providing a host of wallet friendly options for en primeur purchases.
