More than 600 firefighters were called in to tackle the blaze, which broke out near to the village of Correns in Provence on Monday night.
The fire destroyed around 600 hectares of land in the area, according to the local fire service.
Château Miraval, owned by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, is located around five kilometres from Correns.
Fire crews worked through the night on Tuesday to bring the fire under control. They were helped by a cool night and a drop in wind, the local fire service said.
In the end, it took 635 firefighters to contain the fire, and forces from surrounding areas had to be brought in to help. There have been no reported casualties.
The fire department said that crews were still checking an area of 16km around the fire, to ensure another will not start.
