Famille Hugel is one of the oldest producers in Alsace, with current incumbent Jean-Frederic a huge fan of Gewurztraminer. This is from clay vineyards in the grand cru of Sporen, which adds density to the wines. Glorious nose, 100% botrytis – 'the best botrytis I have seen,' says J-F. Hints of mushroom and honey, notes of orange blossom and rose, powerful acidity, a striking wine that is not at all cloying, with remarkable purity of fruit, elegant and fresh. 115g/l RS.
