If you're looking for a higher-end Loire Sauvignon Blanc, this has the edge over the Finest Pouilly-Fumé for us; the latter is made by the same producer, Fournier Père et Fils, and is a touch cheaper. This Sancerre is made from grapes taken from vineyards spread across the different terroirs of the appellation: flint, limestone and marl. It has good typicity, depth and character, with mouthwatering acidity, lively lemon zesty flavours and a mineral, herby dimension to add complexity. The classic match is goat's cheese, but it would also be delicious paired with shellfish.
