Now owned by Olivier Castéja, Château Doisy-Védrines is named after the Védrines who were the proprietors until 1846. Until the latter part of the family’s tenure, the Barsac property included the Doisy-Dubroca and Doisy-Daëne hectares of today but, like so many other well known vineyards, the estate was divided up following Napoleon’s introduction of strict inheritance laws. In 1851, the Védrines portion (the largest of the trio) passed to the Boireau family and then down through the female line to today’s owning family, the Castéjas.
