DWWA judge profile: David Allen MW

David Allen MW is a judge at the at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA).

David Allen MW profile:

David Allen MW discovered a love of wine when working for Oddbins during college holidays. After graduating in 1990, he spent ten years running wine shops in South London for the company.

At this stage he began studying for the MW, a journey which took him around the world several times. Allen then moved to Oddbins’ head office to work in marketing and logistics roles, before leaving in 2004 to join Uvine. From 2006 to 2008 he worked for wine distributors Top Selection. Allen was Fine Wine manager at Coe Vintners from 2010 until shortly before their merger with Enotria in 2015.

He is currently occupied as a consultant focusing on private individuals and wine education. His areas of interest are varied; he particularly loves Bordeaux, Champagne and Riesling, along with the wines of Australia, Greece and New Zealand.

Allen was first a DWWA judge in 2013.
