Despite the very dry conditions, this feels like a more naturally balanced vintage than 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Some have a green streak due to blockages in ripening, but these don’t feature in my selection of top-scoring wines. Rest assured you can buy red Crozes-Hermitage with confidence this year.

The whites are excellent with vibrant and zesty aromatics, even if the acidity isn’t always terribly high, and the Roussanne was particularly good this year.
