Rutini Wines has launched its Finca Centenaria La Consulta Malbec 2024, a limited-edition release created to mark the hundred-year history of the winery’s historic La Consulta vineyard in San Carlos, Mendoza.

Registered with the National Institute of Viticulture in 1924, the 30ha La Consulta estate is Rutini Wines’ oldest vineyard. Situated at 950m in the Uco Valley, La Consulta is considered a key area for premium wine production in Argentina.

Today, this legacy is embodied in a 2024 vintage that looks to combine a century of vineyard expertise with a contemporary oenological approach where the focus is on precision, innovation and a continued commitment to quality.

The distinctive identity of La Consulta

Planted to Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc, La Consulta is renowned for producing wines with fruity, fresh and balanced profiles. Here, the alluvial, nutrient-rich, loam-clay soils, together with distinctive climatic conditions and elevation help shape the wine’s well-defined aromatics.

For this centennial edition, Rutini has chosen Malbec, a variety closely linked to the development of high-altitude wines in Mendoza. The new label seeks to evoke the identity of high-altitude wines in the Uco Valley while also emphasising the historical character of La Consulta.

A contemporary reading of a historic vineyard

Crafted under the direction of Juan Pablo Murgia, winemaker at Rutini Wines, and his team, the 2024 vintage offers aromas of violets, plums and fresh cherries, with a harmonious palate, balanced structure and excellent cellaring potential.

‘Rutini Finca Centenaria La Consulta Malbec is more than a wine: it represents a century of viticultural history and is also an invitation to look to the future with the same passion and commitment that inspired its foundation,’ says Murgia.

More than a mere milestone, this release underlines the crucial role of historic vineyards in constructing the identity of the Uco Valley and of their continued importance for Argentina’s premium wine sector in Argentina.
