2016 Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter consumer video

See video highlights of the Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter 2016 and join 1,000 people who attended a grand tasting of 100 of the world's top wine producers at the Ritz-Carlton in Pudong. Plus, take a peek inside the Masterclass and Star Producer rooms.

Producers and consumers were full of praise for the third Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter, which took place on 26 November.

‘This is the premier wine show in China, by a mile,’ said Marc Hochar, of Chateau Musar in Lebanon.

Six hundred wines and 100 of the world’s best producers awaited the thousand lucky ticket holders inside the grand tasting held at the Ritz-Carlton in Pudong.

And that’s before one considers a mouth-watering line-up of masterclasses and star producers seminars, including vintages of Château Lafite-Rothschild over several decades.

Testimonials

‘One word: brilliant,’ said Ian Wo, brand ambassador for Spain’s Muga.

Cristina Forner, president of fellow Spanish producer Marques de Caceres, agreed. ‘For the third year, Decanter has created yet another outstanding event,’ she said.

Dominique Befve, managing director Château Lascombes, echoed several producers in saying, ‘I am impressed and delighted by the knowledge levels of the visitors.’

That, and visitors’ thirst to learn more, grabbed the attention of many exhibitors.

Julien Porter, regional manager for Chile’s Seña, said, ‘It’s so exciting to see this level of passion and enthusiasm.’

Patrick Lachapelle, Ornellaia export manager for Asia-Pacific, said the event was now ‘simply un-missable’ for the Super Tuscan winery.

‘Our table [in the grand tasting] had people every single minute. They had studied the list before, they knew what they wanted to try – they’re interested. I’ve not seen this at other wine events in China,’ said Antonio Flores, head winemaker at González Byass.

‘Thank you Decanter for delivering this extraordinary tasting in Shanghai,’ said Basile Guibert, co-owner and head of Asia sales at Languedoc’s Mas de Daumas Gassac.
