Something’s brewing – or rather, fermenting – in Europe. Spain and Portugal, two of the world’s leading wine-producing countries, are joining forces to demonstrate that diversity is a strength. In wine just as in life.
The ‘Celebrate the Diversity’ project, launched by the OIVE (Spanish Wine Interbranch Organisation) and Wines of Portugal/ViniPortugal, is co-financed by the European Union.
The project highlights precisely how a multiplicity of grape varieties, climates, soils, landscapes and winemaking traditions can generate an unfathomable wealth of profiles and sensations – and all in a relatively small territory.
A fundamental tool to protect this are the European PDO and PGI schemes, that ensure every bottle reflects its true origin, following strict standards that preserve authenticity, traceability and cultural identity. And almost 200 of them can be found in these two countries alone. Are you ready to discover them?
