There are plenty of excellent wines with the ability to age in the Bordeaux 2018 vintage on the Left Bank.
There are some atypical alcohols that have made for round and approachable wines, but watch out for markers of over-concentration.

Some Cabernets got overly ripe, which might be the first time I have ever really seen that in Bordeaux. Alcohols even exceeded those of Merlot in some cases.
The estates did an excellent job of handing this during en primeur, but ageing in barrel has underlined some of the issues with these high alcohols, namely the extraction of tannins from barrel that will now need a few more years to soften.
The concentration came as a result both of low yields from the mildew that hit hard early in the season, and from extended drought later in the summer that saw small berry sizes.
Despite the need to be careful, however, a sunny September and early October led to a wide harvest window that allowed Cabernet Sauvignon to reach full ripeness.

I would underline a comment that I made during the en primeur tastings – that the wines are often impressive in the glass, but are overly marked by the vintage rather than their estate or appellation signature.
If 2016 embodied the essence of what Left Bank Bordeaux stands for – complexity, depth, ageing ability and hidden power – 2018 is a more extreme version of that, and some wines fall down on typicity.
An excellent addition to these in-bottle tastings in 2020 has been the full lineup of the dry white wines of the Médoc classified estates, including the first vintage of Brane Cantenac’s new white wine. Look out for these in the notes.
