Top Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-St-Georges 2019 en primeur wines
Carles Curtis MW rounds up his top-scoring 2019 wines from across the Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-St-Georges appellations.

Harvest dates varied in Morey, although this was more a reflection of individual style than varying conditions.
Bertrand de Villaine at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti was enthusiastic about 2019.
Picking began on 14 September with the young vines of La Tâche and Romanée-St-Vivant, and progressed to Montrachet, followed by the rest of the reds. Parts of the new vineyard in Corton-Charlemagne that face west were the last to be picked.
Elsewhere in Vosne-Romanée, Anne Gros commented that she harvested three full weeks later in 2019 than in 2020.
The withering effects of the heat were on display in Nuits-St-Georges.
Louis-Michel Liger-Belair said: ‘The oldest vines with the deepest roots suffered the least from this effect. The youngest, in Premeaux, suffered the most.’
Domaine Méo-Camuzet reported among the ripest grapes, noting that all the vines ripened almost simultaneously.
Jean-Nicolas Méo likened the vintage to 2015 or 2009, with potential alcohols ranging from 13.5% in the Hautes Côtes to 14.5% in the ripest of the grands crus.
