There’s nothing like industry appreciation to let you know you’re doing your job well. And we definitely get a lot of it.

We are recognised for our comprehensive and exciting new range of wines and the success of our internet selling through our Wine Club and Tesco.com.

Just as importantly, we received recognition for our strong relationships with suppliers and agents.

Which brings us to you. You’ll use your knowledge of the market to visit wineries all over the world (particularly Spain and Portugal), spending around 2 to 4 weeks a year abroad, ranging from a couple of days to 2 weeks at a time. Your goal will be to source and negotiate to enhance on our range of 150 wines.

It’s not a role you’ll necessarily need a degree for, but your experience with a wine retailer, vineyard or other supplier will put you ahead by a nose, so to speak.

The key aspect is that you have a passion for wine combined with experience of buying wines, strong commercial and negotiation skills. Relevant qualifications such as Wines & Spirits Education Trust courses would be of course be an advantage.
