Selfridges and Decanter launched two weeks of Decanter World Wine Award winners at the shop's Wonder Bar last night.
The renowned department store in London’s Oxford Street – the busiest shopping street in Europe – is showing 45 Trophy-winning wines in its Enomatic machines, which are operated by pre-paid cards and allow customers to pour samples of either 25ml or 50ml.
The 45 wines on offer range from Premier Cru Burgundy and top and Australian Shiraz to wines from Italy, Spain, Chile, Greece and beyond.
Among the most popular wines last night were the Sherries – Emilio Lustau, Añada 1990, Sweet Oloroso and Bodegas Fernando de Castilla, Antique, Amontillado, and the Maison Albert Bichot, Domaine du Pavillon, Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes, 2007, which ran out in less than two hours.
‘We are delighted to be hosting this event once more and have extended it to run for two weeks this year to cope with demand. Last year was a complete sell out’, said Dawn Davies, Head Sommelier at the Wonder Bar.
Selfridges celebrated the event with a bespoke window display advertising the collaboration with Decanter.
