Decanter Bordeaux Liv-ex Index

The Decanter Bordeaux Liv-ex Index tracks the performance of the 200 most auctioned Bordeaux wines by value. All wines are priced using the weighted average 12 bottle case price from global auction sales (including the buyer’s premium).

All prices are in GBP. Auctions taking place outside of the UK are converted at the spot exchange rate on the day of the sale.

The index is equal weighted, so every wine’s percentage movement has exactly the same effect on the index as every other. The index components were initially selected by the total value sold prior to the year ending August 2007.

To qualify for the index, wines have to have appeared at auctioned at least 12 times during the period. The index components are re-selected annually in August when the lowest 20 by auction sales are substituted for more active wines, with the same qualifying criteria applying.

The index is based at 100 in August 2007.
