Doug Wregg

Doug Wregg, judge on the DWWA Italy panel in 2010

Doug Wregg was born in New York, but bred in London. He gave up the opportunity to become an English teacher in favour of working firstly as a restaurant manager, then as a sommelier. In 1996, he was offered a job as a sales representative at Les Caves de Pyrène, at the time a ‘tiny three-man-and-one-woman band’ specialising in south-west French wines. He is now a director of the company and in charge of the sales and marketing team. Outside his main job, Wregg has consulted on several award-winning restaurant wine lists and written articles for various magazines. Doug is passionate about terroir-driven and natural wines from France and Italy, and is a strong, sometimes outspoken advocate of the artisanal approach to being a wine grower.
