Fine Expressions closes

Fine Expressions magazine, a fine wine and spirits bi-monthly, has closed after seven issues.

The magazine was edited by wine journalist Tom Cannavan, editor and founder of veteran website wine-pages.com.

Cannavan said Fine Expressions closed after 14 months because its owner, GW Publishing, could not afford it.

‘All the indicators were that it was doing well. We placed 10,000 copies in British Airways lounges, and we had good feedback from all subscribers. It was simply that the publisher could not afford to keep it going.’

Fine Expressions also published the results of the International Wine and Spirit Competition, which is now looking for a new publisher.

IWSC marketing manager Lesley Gray told decanter.com, ‘We currently publish the results on our website and we are now seeking a new partner to take them directly to the consumer. We are in conversation with a number of international publications.’
