Jacob’s Creek in Wal-Mart deal

Wal-Mart, the world’s biggest retailer, has finalised a distribution deal with top Australian wine brand Jacob’s Creek.

Jacob’s Creek Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz and Shiraz-Cabernet will be seen on the shelves in over 300 Wal-Mart Stores spanning 22 states. Wal-Mart is the largest corporation in the US and has over 4,800 stores worldwide.

The deal is likely to ensure the sales growth of Jacob’s Creek wines in the US. The brand, which forms part of the Orlando Wyndham Group, saw a 25% sales growth in the US last year.

‘We believe there is significantly more potential in the US markets for wines of premium quality that are well priced, Jacob’s Creek meets that criteria,’ said Orlando Wyndham boss, Laurent Lacassagne.
