The Opportunity

This fabulous opportunity has become available in the wine buying team as a Purchasing Manager.

We are seeking a key member of the buying team and as such you will be responsible for developing and strengthening the groups’ extensive wine range in terms of quality, competitiveness, and exclusivity.

A base salary of £50K – £55K Plus attractive company including 5 weeks holiday, contributory pension scheme, staff sales, life assurance cover, private health cover, childcare voucher scheme, ongoing training and good career prospects.

The role will be based at Matthew Clark Head Offices outside Bristol and candidates will need to be either based in or willing to commute to this area daily.

You will have:

  • Direct buying experience – ideally stemming from a multiple off trade environment.
  • Category and range development skills and strong negotiation techniques.
  • An in depth wine knowledge.

    You will be:

  • Commercially minded with a good understanding of cost to sale profit.
  • Capable of negotiating yearly pricing contracts, marketing support and volume requirements.
  • A practical and intuitive solution developer with strong planning and analytical skills and excellent communication.
  • Well networked within the wine arena with a reputation that proceeds you
