New editor for wine trade weekly Harpers

UK wine trade weekly Harpers has appointed a new editor.

Richard Siddle, a journalist with some 16 years experience in food and drink publishing, has worked for titles that include Supermarketing, Independent Retail News and Checkout.

He won the Periodical Publishers’ Association’s food and drink editor of the year award in 2004 and 2005.

Siddle said in a statement that he plans to turn the business magazine into ‘the must-read industry journal for news and views.’

Allen Gibbons, a spokesman for Harpers’ parent company Nexus Business Media said, ‘This appointment will catapult Harpers into a new realm, leading the debate on the issues that really matter in the wine and spirit industry, offering news and insight as well as comprehensive features.’

Siddle’s predecessors in the editor’s chair include Christian Davis, and Tim Atkin MW.
