A tricky vintage that may not have the complexity and power of 2002, but charming and useful wines from vigilant winemakers.

Weather Conditions
An uncharacteristically cool, wet spring delayed both the start and end of the season. A warmer, moist summer caused minor mildew issues in a few areas but a sudden rise in temperature at harvest time sped up ripening of all varietals lead to round-the-clock activity at some wineries though a decline in temperatures mid-August was good for both pickers and growers, as it allowed longer hang-time for red grapes. Yields were down on 2005.
