History:

A date-stone at Fonroque’s cellar entrance suggests wine has been made here for two and a half centuries, yet Château Fonroque owes its reputation to more recent times and its acquistion in 1931 by Jean Moueix, the founder of J-P Moueix. In 1979, the estate passed to Jean’s son, Jean-Pierre Moueix, who did much to further the wine’s quality. Today, Fonroque is owned by Jean-Pierre Moueix’s son Alain.
