History:

Château Haut-Batailley is a relative newcomer on the Bordeaux scene, though its parent estate Batailley is one of the oldest and largest in Pauillac. It was created in 1942 by brothers François and Marcel Borie, co-founders of the prestigious negociant firm Borie-Manoux. Managers of the Batailley estate since the late 1860s and owners since 1932, the Bories later decided to divide the estate between in order to avoid the hesitance problems of joint ownership. Marcel took the larger share, complete with the Château Batailley title and chateau building itself, while the remainder passed to François as Chateau Haut-Batailley. Haut-Batailley remains today under Borie family ownership, alongside Château Grande-Puy-Lacoste and Château Ducru-Beaucaillou.
