History:

The real impetus behind Château Pavie-Macquin was Albert Macquin, who acquired the land from Bordeaux négociant Ferdinand Bouffard in the mid-1800s when it formed part of Bouffard’s vast ‘Pavie’ estate. He was a dedicated winemaker, and remains something of a hero in Saint-Emilion – his unique and innovative approach to grafting helped save the region from devastation during the phylloxera epidemic. Macquin’s direct descendants, the Corre family, are the present-day owners.
