A good Pinot vintage

Weather Conditions

Despite the oddity of two days of frost in May, the Willamette Valley’s growing season was relatively hot and dry. No such frosts were reported in Umpqua Valley. Though the frosts reduced the crop of some of the low-lying vineyards, the overall crop came in at 400-500 tons or just slightly smaller than projected. Harvest weather was good with no rainfall to bother fruit maturity or to slow down the harvesting. Picking began in late September and was finished within three weeks.
