Rain at harvest was a problem, though late-picked wines were very good

Weather Conditions

A warm winter in Oregon encouraged early bud-break during the third week of March. Bloom and set were also ahead of a normal schedule. From May on the summer weather was warm with average daily high temperatures of 85 degrees F. As winemakers were looking forward to an early harvest, they encountered three days of rain in early September. The harvest was delayed for over a week to allow vineyards to dry out. Good weather returned by the end of September and the picking was in full swing by September 27.
