1988 vintage guide for Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon

Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon 1988: Drink now

A good vintage producing deeply-coloured wines with plenty of fruit

Weather Conditions

The winter was unusual dry and mild and gentle. Bloom and set proceeded right on schedule and the vines went into the summer weeks carrying a good-sized crop. A pattern of warm days, cool nights throughout most of September brought the fruit to full maturity. The red wines were ripe, rich, and supple.

Overall, a well-above average vintage with Cabernets demonstrating solid structure and excellent ageing potential.
