Siblings Mathilde and Nathan Sereys de Rothschild – alongside cousin Pierre Sereys de Rothschild – have taken the best of Bordeaux’s heritage to create easy-drinking wines perfect for life’s spontaneous moments.
The spirit of summer
The Mouton Cadet Rosé was the first in the collection – and the family’s first organic and vegan rosé to boot. Developed by Mathilde, a creative director, this pale pink merlot has a radiant nose of roses, macarons and fresh zest. One sip, and it’s summer: sand between your toes, sunset over the sea, and a glass bursting with freshly-picked raspberry and lychee. When asked how best to enjoy it, Mathilde says ‘with a picnic on the beach, paired with beetroot hummus or a tomato tart.'
A Sauvignon that’s pure charm
Next, there’s Mouton Cadet White from Nathan. He’s an actor and musician, and it shows – this white sings with energy. Gleaming yellow, this Sauvignon Blanc has an irresistible nose of bergamot and candied citrus – plus an artistic palate that mixes grapefruit, passionfruit and honeysuckle.
For Nathan, the wine evokes his earliest memories. ‘The vineyards and countryside of Bordeaux remind me of my childhood, of summer holidays… the air is different there, there’s nothing else like it,’ he says. One taste of this wine and you’ll feel it too.
Bordeaux red as you’ve never seen before
Finally, there’s Pierre’s Mouton Cadet Red. This is a truly fresh expression of Bordeaux, made to be served chilled at a thirst-quenching eight degrees. This fruit-forward red doesn’t disappoint. Initial sage and wild strawberry aromas expand into a palate of delicate redcurrant, luscious berries and a refreshing minty finish.
‘I love seeing the look of surprise on my guests’ faces when they find out this is a Bordeaux,’ Pierre says, with a wry smile.
Whether for a spontaneous drink with friends or a sunny Saturday brunch, the Fresh Collection brings a burst of French summer to any occasion. And, like all wines from Mouton Cadet, the collection is made to the highest ethical and sustainable standards – making them forward-thinking in every sense. Cheers to that.
