Apartado: Elegant interpretations of the Uco Valley from Rutini Wines

The Apartado line features Rutini Wines’ most exacting interpretations of the Uco Valley. This premium line arose from a terroir-based philosophy: selecting parcels in the vineyard that best express the identity of each place and the character of each variety.

Under the oenological expertise of Juan Pablo Murgia, Rutini Wines demonstrates a clear focus on precision viticulture and an intimate understanding of the distinct nuances to be found across the Uco Valley.

‘Apartado is our way of listening to each parcel: we don’t impose a style, we interpret what the place already offers,’ says Murgia. The team chooses its parcels for their geological distinctiveness, agricultural characteristics and expressive potential, working to convey the character of each vintage. Apartado takes the consumer on a journey through Rutini’s vineyards.

A tour of the Uco Valley

The Apartado Gran Merlot 2021 hails from El Cepillo, while the Gran Cabernet Sauvignon and Apartado Nature are expressions of Gualtallary. The collection is completed by the Gran Malbec, Gran Chardonnay and Gran Blend, which use grapes from different areas in the valley.

In the high-altitude El Cepillo sub-region, to the far south of the Uco Valley, the cool mountain climate and soils rich in caliche and colluvial rocks shape Rutini Wines’ Apartado Gran Merlot.

‘El Cepillo gives this Merlot a unique freshness and mineral quality, with fruit that speaks of its origin,’ comments Murgia. On the nose, expect red fruit and floral notes, following through on a fresh palate with refined tannins. At harvest, the team focuses on balance and varietal definition, completing the process with ageing in French oak.

A new aesthetic

In 2026, Rutini has refreshed the visual identity of the Apartado line to reinforce the correlation between parcel selection and sense of place. ‘The recent label redesign reflects that conceptual evolution, strengthening the relationship between inspiration, origin and identity and expressing more clearly the role of parcel selection as the basis of Apartado’s character,’ says Murgia.

Rutini Wines’ Apartado line offers an ongoing interpretation of the Uco Valley that evolves with each harvest, revealing subtle new expressions of its vineyards and varieties.
