Pontet-Canet, Pauillac, Bordeaux, France 2012
An underrated vintage. Sweet elegant blackcurrant nose, pure and racy, very refined with stylish oak. Medium-bodied, has a light touch for this estate, but the tannins are still very pronounced. But there’s a core of sweet ripe fruit balanced by good acidity. Still a bit of a battle between plumpness of fruit and freshness and drive. Good length.
