Evans & Tate

Andrew Jefford

Tasting: Western Australia Chardonnay

Full green-gold. Earthier and cloddier than many, and that’s not a bad thing; maybe we could even say ‘mineral’. There’s also a lovely soft, understated leesiness to it. On the palate, this is agreeably soft, mellow, complex, layered and long, without any of the more overtly tangy or tropical notes which so many of the wines show. There subtle creaminess, subtle oak, subtle most things. It has length, structure, depth, gastronomic aptitude. Outstanding wine.

Tasting: Western Australia Chardonnay

Opulent nose with lovely ricness, flavours evolve in the mouth, tantilising fruit with lovely balance of oak, rich and lingering. This is still a baby. I love the minerality coming through, and long rich finish – a very classy wine.

Alessandro Marchesan

Tasting: Western Australia Chardonnay

Ripe and rich with lovely notes of nectarines and red citrus fruit. Medium to full bodied, creamy but with crisp acidity. Long aftertaste of pineapple and blood orange.
