Given this appellation’s focus on white wine, growers here generally began to pick early.
Domaine des Comtes Lafon began on 26 August; Domaine de Montille on the 28. Pierre Lafon explains: ‘Even if July and [early] August were cool, the struggle today is to maintain acidity.’
Michel Bouzereau describes a year that began ahead of schedule in May and June but fell behind with a period of cold and rain from mid-July.
He notes that the village experienced a localised hailstorm on 11 July that occurred – oddly – overnight but fortunately did little lasting damage to the vineyard.
He began picking on 3 September and ended with a moderate 12.9%-13% potential alcohol and balanced acidity.
