Domaine Biguet, Nature, St-Péray 2014
St-Péray is the most southern appellation of the northern Rhône, covering less than 100 hectares devoted almost exclusively to Marsanne and Roussanne. Production has swung from focussing on the local sparkling Mousseux to producing predominantly still whites in quite a short time frame.
This particular example has a waxy, citrus nose with wafts of vinyl. Elderflower, stone fruits, baked apple and a touch of lime fill out the palate with fruit complexity. This is quite a tight, focussed wine with a good balancing acidity.
