Tasting: St. Emilion Grand Cru & Premier Grand Cru Classe

Sweet, toasty nose, has charm. Medium-bodied, supple, rounded and accessible, with some spice and tannin on the mid-palate. It gains in texture and finesse, and finishes positively. Very good if not thrilling.

Powerful wine. Liquorish and dark fruit notes. Palate solid. Dark raisiny fruit. Extraction pushed a little too hard. Porty and dry on the finish.

Rich, concentrated, autumnal berry fruit nose, very Merlot and naturally sweet from the vintage. Broad flavours, quite low acidity, will show well, but has not the character for the long term.
