Manufacturer:

Bodegas Peique

Mike Ritchie

Tasting: Bierzo Mencia

Savoury, developed nose that shows still hints of black fruit. On the palate, it is a touch hot and hollow. The fruit doesn’t cover the tough tannins and alcoholic heat.

Pedro Ballesteros

Tasting: Bierzo Mencia

Intense earthy notes over wild forest fruit, spicy and liquorice hints. Concentrated, tightly grained, with much fruit, a bit short of acidity, long finish. Lovely because of its personality, better with hearty food.

Sarah Jane Evans

Tasting: Bierzo Mencia

Dense brambly fruit dominates the nose of the wine, with earthy, smoky backnotes. The wine shows marked acidity, a crunchy citrus freshness, lifting the dark fruits and spicy oak. The tannins are smoothing and softening with time creating a complex blend with plenty of life in it still.
