Playboy opens wine club

Men’s lifestyle brand Playboy has launched a new online wine club offering ‘sinfully seductive wines’ and ‘sexy, spicy Spanish reds’.

Among the early offers from the Playboy Wine Club, a spin-off from the renowned men’s magazine, are ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’ – a case of ‘six sensual whites’.

A mystery 12-bottle case of six reds and six whites is labelled ‘Blind Date’, while the ‘Sinfully Seductive Wines’ case is dubbed as ‘the best wines to transition from dining room to bedroom’.

Playboy Enterprises has launched the club in the US at its website in association with Barclay’s Wine, an internet wine marketer founded in 2000.

The venture promises ‘exclusive selections from around the world, sourced from boutique vineyards’, offering a quarterly case delivery programme called the Playboy Wine Encounter, an online store and special offers.

‘We carefully select a handful of wines that represent the essence of the Playboy brand – delightfully jovial, indulgent and carefully crafted – while catering to the consumer’s desires to celebrate life and live it with a little style,’ said Scott Flanders, CEO of Playboy Enterprises.

The club, which has an initial offer of US$10 credit, is so far available to US residents only.
